Military Research

Research into WWI in all its facets, has been a very keen interest of our's for in excess of 20 years and we regularly visit the sites in Belgium and France where the Commonwealth Forces fought. Combining this knowledge with ancestral research, allows for a smooth and integrated operation.

Do you know of a past family member that served at the Battle of Waterloo, in the Crimea War or Boer War?

Did a member of your family 'fall' during WWI in France or Belgium? Or, did they survive and you would just like to know more about their time in service?

Whatever the scenario, we are experienced military researchers who are well positioned to undertake bespoke research into this on your behalf to obtain the answers that you are looking for.

Where such information still exists, we can offer the following:

  • Personal Service Record
  • Attestation Papers (signing up documentation)
  • Deb-Mob Papers
  • Medal Index Card
  • Gazetted Items (where available; Newspaper extracts related to promotion, Medal Awards or death etc.)
  • Named headstone or War Memorial photo (where possible), if Killed in Action, of your ancestor which would be accompanied by a relevant Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery photo

It could be that whilst we are undertaking previously agreed research for you, that we identify family members whom you had no idea had served for their country. If this is the case, we would contact you to see if you would like us to include the above in our ongoing research. If the answer was yes, then we would review the estimated time and effort required to pursue this and agree a way forward that you are comfortable with.
